Thank you Colin, and updates to our Club Committee

At our AGM at Northfield, the Club and its members united in celebrating the 5 years of Colin Kimber’s Presidency, as he confirmed his desire to retire from the role.

Having taken on the reigns in the most difficult and tragic of circumstances following the passing of his predecessor, Garry Cortez, a man who many felt to be irreplaceable, Colin has ensured that the oldest Club in Guernsey football has continued its growth, and whilst the COVID outbreak denied him the likely honour of a Priaulx title in 2020, there is no denying the on and off field progress made under his leadership.

Whether it’s the thriving minis and youth section; youth and reserve league and cup success; and a Junior Upton triumph on the pitch, or the redevelopment of the clubhouse, grandstand and floodlights off it, Colin retires from his role leaving the Club thriving and optimistic for the future.

Colin was keen to thank his Committee, all of whom operate on a fully volunteer basis, and was particularly grateful for the hard work of Alan Prigent (Treasurer), Kerry Tardif (Club Welfare Officer), Chris Le Cheminant (Groundsman) and Steve Holford (Facilities). “We are so lucky to have people like this, without whose time and commitment we couldn’t achieve anywhere near as much." Colin went on to thank “all of the volunteers across the committee, coaching, bar, canteen, administration and maintenance teams, all of whom work tirelessly to make sure North is the best environment possible for providing football and other opportunities to the local community”.

Colin will not be a stranger at Northfield, as the members present unanimously voted him Honorary Life Presidency of the Club, and he has assured everyone he will still be on hand to help however he can. As he says himself, “if you cut me I bleed chocolate and blue and that will never change”.

In stepping back from his role, Colin has nominated Wayne Martel as the new Club President, supported by his 2 new Vice Presidents, Darren Cooley and Andy Le Cheminant.

Wayne has connections to North going back nearly 40 years, having played throughout the Junior and Senior ranks, and more recently coaching and acting as Vice President.

In response to Colin’s nomination Wayne was keen to acknowledge: “The Club is incredibly grateful to Colin for all he has done so far, and I certainly plan on calling on his experience and wisdom as I see this very much as a change, and not an ending. We have the history and the potential to continue our growth and I am so proud to have been given this opportunity to help however I can. We have an incredible team of volunteers who are united in their passion for the Club, and how it can offer yet more to football and its members, young, old and those yet to join.”
